The court has nearly 60 employees and is divided into two adjudicating departments and one administrative unit. One of the adjudicating departments is the Land and Environment Court. Our premises are located close to Östersund's vibrant city center.

Östersund is a city where you can enjoy life all year round. There are short distances to work, school, and services, as well as to entertainment and recreational activities. Add to that bright summer nights, proximity to mountains and lakes, and real winters with plenty of snow. Östersund Municipality has about 60,000 inhabitants.

Are you a law student looking to gain practical experience in court work? Are you perhaps considering a future in the judiciary? Welcome to apply for a summer clerk position at Östersund District Court.

We Offer You

As a summer clerk, you will gain valuable insight into the court's operations in the general department. The tasks largely correspond to those performed by newly hired clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology. The overarching goal of the summer clerk position is to provide insight into the daily court work as well as the various cases and matters that occur at a district court. This primarily happens by giving you the opportunity to participate in practical work, such as taking minutes during both criminal and civil hearings, drafting judgments, conducting legal research, and to some extent preparing cases and matters. Other tasks that occur at the court may also be included in the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone studying in the law program who has completed the courses in procedural law as well as criminal and civil law, but you should not have completed your education before the summer.

You have good grades from completed parts of the law education as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You convey information clearly and simply, both orally and in writing. Other important qualities include attention to detail, analytical ability, good collaboration skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work independently.

Other

The summer clerk position is a fixed-term employment for eight weeks during the summer of 2025, located in the general department. In order for us to assess your application, you need to attach your transcripts along with your CV and cover letter. It is important that you fill in all fields in the digital application tool.

Interviews are usually not conducted for this short-term position, and great importance will be placed on your cover letter and how you motivate your interest in working as a summer clerk at our court. However, phone interviews may potentially be relevant.
