Research Assistant in Political Science

Gaskeuniversiteete/Mittuniversitetet is located in the heart of the South Sámi area in Saepmie. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a cross-regional institution with operations at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The activities include research and education in subjects such as English, Gender Studies, History, Criminology, Literary Studies, Social Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Swedish as a Second Language, and the Swedish Language. Research is conducted within each subject as well as within the Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR), Forum for Gender Studies (FGV), and DEMICOM.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities consist of participation in two research projects in the area of collaboration on civil defense.

The position includes administration according to applicable working time agreements and local guidelines.

Qualifications

The person to be employed as a researcher must meet the qualifications described in the employment regulations (https://www.miun.se/anstallningsordning) and the requirements described in the handling regulations (https://www.miun.se/medarbetare/universitetet/huv/Namnd-och-rad/Anstallningsrad/handlaggningsordningar/). Qualified to be employed as a researcher in political science is someone who has obtained a PhD in political science or another related field.

Other Requirements

Work experience from a position with content equivalent to that presented above is required, including experience from collegial work in an academic environment.

Good knowledge of English and Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement.

The position requires independence as well as good collaboration skills. Since the position involves several different tasks, the ability to work in a structured manner and with good planning skills is also required.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria for the employment of a researcher shall be the degree of such competence that is required for eligibility for the position. Scientific competence is assessed through a weighing of the applicant's scientific production, taking into account depth and breadth, experience in obtaining external research funding, and leading research projects.

Experience in working on multidisciplinary research projects is an asset. Experience in research and teaching related to collaboration on civil defense is particularly meritorious.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a special fixed-term employment covering 15% of full-time from 2025-02-01 or by agreement, but no later than 2025-12-31.
