About the Position

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg! To maintain efficiency and quality within the finance function, Chalmers University of Technology needs to be strengthened with an accounting assistant. This is to enable a sustainable workflow and provide the conditions to handle peak workloads while developing and implementing new routines and ensuring the quality of financial processes.

You will be placed in the Department of Operational Support where 11 people focus on providing qualified support in administration, finance, and communication. The finance function consists of a controller, three economists, and an accounting assistant.

The position includes the following tasks:

  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with internal and external regulations
  • Financial project reporting to funders
  • Interpretation of terms from funders and other contractual parties
  • Work with accounting and bookkeeping
  • Work in financial systems (e.g., Raindance, Hypergene)
  • Posting
  • Work with accounts payable and receivable
  • Participate in year-end closing work
  • Respond to inquiries about incoming and outgoing payments

Assignment Period and Scope:

The position as an Accounting Assistant is a full-time consultancy assignment starting on 2026-02-01 (exact start date not yet determined) and is expected to last until 2027-01-31.

Normal working hours are from 08:00 to 16:45 with a 45-minute lunch break. The average weekly working time should be 40 hours. Flexibility to work remotely based on the needs of the organization.

Requirements for the Position:

  • Must be able to start the assignment no later than 2026-03-01, preferably earlier, and continue for the entire assignment period.
  • The consultant must have a university degree in finance or equivalent education and at least three (3) years of work experience in similar roles. Alternatively, high school or equivalent education and five (5) years of work experience as an accounting assistant.
  • The consultant must have experience in accounting, budgeting, and year-end closing work.
  • The consultant must be knowledgeable in at least 3 of the following points in the job description:
  1. Ensure proper accounting in accordance with internal and external regulations
  2. Financial project reporting to funders
  3. Interpretation of terms from funders and other contractual parties
  4. Work with accounts payable and receivable
  5. Respond to inquiries about incoming and outgoing payments
  • The consultant must have experience working with financial and administrative support systems
  • Communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • The consultant must have good knowledge of financial systems (e.g., Unit 4 ERP, Raindance, Hypergene, Visma, etc.)
  • The consultant must have good knowledge of MS Office or equivalent.
  • Be available for an interview that will be conducted on-site at the authority.
  • Desirable Qualifications for the Position:

    • The consultant can start the assignment before February 18, 2026.
    • The consultant has experience in financial work within higher education/universities or similar research activities.
    • The consultant has experience working with the support systems Raindance and Hypergene.
    • The consultant has experience in project accounting.
