Economist at Göteborgs Stadsmission
Göteborgs Stadsmission is a non-profit organization driven by ideas that works to support people living in vulnerable situations. Together, we want to create a Gothenburg where everyone is included. A city where we meet the person, not the problem.
ABOUT US
The finance department at Göteborgs Stadsmission consists of a small and family-like finance team of five people, all reporting to the finance manager.
Together, we are responsible for Göteborgs Stadsmission's accounting and financial reporting. The department supports the board and management with accurate and timely financial information. Furthermore, the department ensures that approval regulations and other internal rules are followed and ensures that the companies and other organizations comply with laws and regulations in the areas of accounting and tax law.
An important part of the department's mission is to ensure good financial governance and follow-up of all the organization's projects and donation-funded activities. We currently work in the business system Visma Business and use INSIKT as a BI system.
ABOUT THE POSITION
In the role of economist with us, you will have overall responsibility for the financial management of the organization's projects and grants. You will work closely with the operations and fundraising departments, and serve as a qualified support to unit managers, project leaders, and fundraising managers.
Your main tasks include:
- Preparing, quality-assuring, and following up budgets in project and grant applications in consultation with the fundraising manager, project leader, and unit manager
- Continuously following up results and outcomes against the budget and identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions
- Ensuring that the costs of projects and grants comply with the donors' conditions and internal guidelines
- Initiating, following up, and, if necessary, correcting project markings related to project and grant applications in consultation with operations, fundraising department, and payroll department
- Providing ongoing support to unit managers and project leaders regarding project markings, cost allocation, and financial questions
- Having an overview of project-marked personnel within donation-funded activities and following up these together with the payroll department
- Representing Göteborgs Stadsmission in the National Association of Sweden's City Missions project and grants group responsible for financial reporting
- Participating in financial reporting to donors, foundations, and other financiers
- Being the main contact for auditors regarding project and grant-related financial follow-up and reporting
The role also includes work with:
- Monthly and annual accounts related to projects
- Other accounting work, as we within the finance team function as backups for each other
- System permissions and development of working methods within project follow-up
The role involves a lot of contact and support to Göteborgs Stadsmission's operations.
WHO ARE YOU?
We are looking for someone with relevant education in finance (university or vocational training) and several years of experience in qualified financial work, preferably with a focus on project accounting, controlling, or donation-funded activities.
You have a good understanding of budget work, follow-up, and analysis and are comfortable in dialogue with the operations. You thrive in an advisory role and have the ability to explain finance in an educational way.
It is advantageous if you have experience in non-profit work, foundations, or working with multiple legal entities, where regulations and conditions are often complex.
As a person, you are structured, solution-oriented, and meticulous. You can work independently but also enjoy collaborating in a team.
We assume that you, as an applicant, share our view that all people have the right to a place in our city, a home of their own, and a voice. Read more about our values here https://www.stadsmissionen.org/om-oss/ (https://www.stadsmissionen.org/om-oss/).
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
