Do you want to make a real difference?
Here you contribute to creating safety for people and communities. What you do matters.
Do you want to contribute to a safer world while developing yourself? Welcome to us at Underwater Systems and the Mechanical Support & Systems Engineering section.
Your Role
As a mechanical systems engineer, you have a broad and crucial role regarding the capabilities of our products and the requirements placed on them throughout their lifecycle. In close collaboration with the project system leaders and your counterparts in systems safety, ILS, electrical, software, and environmental resilience, you will develop and break down the requirements for our products. The requirements may come from customers, standards, laws, product management, production, or after-sales. You will also define how the requirements should be verified and review verification reports to ensure that the requirements are closed in a traceable and reliable manner.
You will also work closely with the designers who design based on the requirements you have established, as well as with the verification department that verifies the product against these requirements. The position thus involves many internal and external contacts, which places high demands on your communication skills. To be successful in the role, you also need to be able to read and write technical documentation in both Swedish and English.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with a university degree or a master's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field. If you have experience in systems engineering and requirements breakdown with associated traceability requirements, that is an advantage, but even if you have broad experience in design and want to take the next step, you could be a great fit for the position. Most importantly, you have a technical breadth that allows you to understand the whole picture of our products and processes, while also being able to delve into and explain complex relationships clearly and pedagogically to others. We believe you are motivated by collaborating with others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the whole.
At Underwater Systems, we work with several exciting products such as torpedoes, mine systems, and various underwater vehicles like ROVs and AUVs. Our team is characterized by a lack of prestige and good collaboration where we solve our tasks together. We value curiosity, engagement, and the desire to develop and take responsibility. We strive to be a workplace where community, stimulating tasks, and well-being are highly valued.
The mechanical area within Underwater Systems currently consists of over 70 people, of which about 15 are located in Lund. This means you can also work from Lund if you wish. The Mechanical Support & Systems Engineering section currently consists of 17 dedicated employees (15 in Linköping and 2 in Lund) who, in addition to systems engineering work in mechanics, also work with review management, drawing review, materials technology, and environmental resilience, as well as administration.
The section offers a wide variety of tasks and the opportunity to contribute to the entire product portfolio, which gives you great opportunities to grow and develop in your role. Continuous learning also provides opportunities to take on new roles within the section or the company as a whole in the long term.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
What You Will Be Part Of
With 26,000 talented employees, Saab develops technology and solutions for a safer and more sustainable world. Saab develops, manufactures, and maintains advanced systems in aviation, weapons, command systems, sensors, and underwater systems. Saab has its headquarters in Sweden but has a global presence where Saab is part of many nations' defense capabilities.
