Kooperativet Hand i Hand is a member-driven organization established in 1995 for individuals entitled to assistance. Our members are located in Skåne, Halland, southern Småland, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, and Jämtland. We have offices in Halmstad, Hässleholm, and Malmö. We support our members with everything from applying for hours with Försäkringskassan/the municipality to personnel issues regarding personal assistants. We believe that the work of a personal assistant is one of the most important jobs there is, as it provides an opportunity for another person to live their life like everyone else.

The position is 100% scheduled during daytime and evening hours on weekdays and weekends. Work shifts vary between 10-12 hours on a rolling two-week schedule, meaning you work as many days as you have off.

The position is suited for someone who is skilled at reading how someone is feeling. The work may require you to go from 0-100 in a second, as breathing and mucus issues can occur acutely.

Responsibilities include assisting with suctioning, inhalations, cough machines, BiPap, tube feeding, maintaining good ergonomics, and transfers to and from various aids.

I am looking for someone who is cheerful, positive, and loves life. I see joy in everything and am not afraid to challenge myself.

My muscle disease, SMA Type 1, means that I need help doing what my friends do. This can range from opening the cap on a glue stick to pushing my walker so I can roller skate. Another of my activities is swimming and training in the pool, and it would be great if you can change and help me in the same changing room. You should also be able to speak and understand Swedish in both spoken and written form, as I do not know any other languages.

You should be attentive to my needs and also able to take your own initiative.

Your workplace is wherever I am, and we usually start from home. A driver's license is an advantage as we live a bit outside the city.

SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) Type 1 is a muscle disease that generally weakens all muscles in the body, meaning all muscles are affected, from arms and legs to breathing and swallowing muscles. The disease has no cognitive or intellectual impact.
