Assistant Nurse and Pediatric Nurse

Assistant Nurse

As an assistant nurse, you meet patients in need of medical care and rehabilitation. You work closely with the patient, which requires a strong interest in people and the ability to understand the patient's situation and needs. As an assistant nurse, you will work at one of our facilities at Sahlgrenska Hospital, Östra Hospital, Mölndal Hospital, and Högsbo Hospital. The needs of the departments will determine which hospital you will be placed at.

Pediatric Nurse

You will meet children and adolescents (0-18 years) in need of medical care and rehabilitation. Care is provided in close collaboration with the child and the child's relatives, which requires empathetic ability and understanding of the patient's situation and needs. You assist the child with meals, activities, checks, sample collection, and wound dressing. You will work at Drottning Silvia's Children's and Adolescents' Hospital. To work as a pediatric nurse, you must have studied care and nursing with a focus on children and adolescents or emergency care. Experience working with children is an advantage.

We are looking for you

You are a trained assistant nurse in healthcare with a protected professional title or will complete your education by June 2026. It is advantageous if you have: a focus on emergency care in your education, completed an internship at a hospital, experience working in hospital care or elderly care.

We are looking for summer substitutes who can work during the vacation period weeks 23-35 (June 1 - August 30). You should be able to work 8 consecutive weeks, of which 4 weeks in July.

You are good at collaborating, can adapt to different work situations, and prioritize as needed. We will consider personal suitability when filling the positions.

To ensure we can provide our patients with good and safe care, it is important that our employees have good language skills and the ability to communicate in Swedish. Your language level should be at least B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), SVA 1 (Swedish as a Second Language 1 in municipal adult education), or equivalent.

At Sahlgrenska University Hospital, care is provided around the clock, which means you may work days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Sahlgrenska University Hospital has a time allocation linked to night shifts, which reduces the weekly working hours for each night worked.

Before employment in psychiatry or pediatric care, a check of the suspicion and criminal record register is conducted.

Interviews will be conducted during the period of January to May 2026. Recruitment is ongoing during the application period.

To be qualified for the position, you must attach: proof of ongoing education to become an assistant nurse showing that you will complete it in June 2026, final grades, diploma, proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it, and a certificate of employment (optional) from previous employers (dates, employment rate, and hours).

As of July 1, 2023, the title of assistant nurse became a protected professional title. This means you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of assistant nurse in healthcare. If you have not yet received it, you will be employed as a care assistant.
