About the operation

Affective Reception 2 is a specialist psychiatric outpatient clinic for adult patients. The catchment area includes all of Gothenburg as well as Partille, Härryda, and Mölndal. The clinic is located together with Affective Reception 1 at Rullagergatan 5 in Gamlestaden in the old factory area by SKF. The premises are bright and well-suited for our operations, located in an exciting neighborhood under development with nice walking paths and plenty of lunch options. The clinics have a close collaboration and jointly organize treatment groups and professional meetings. In total, we are about 90 employees distributed across 10 treatment teams. Our workplace is characterized by high professionalism and an open climate, and we strive for a dialogue between different perspectives and to maintain a connection to the university and research.

Job responsibilities

We are now looking for a temporary psychologist for our geriatric psychiatric team. The team has a close interdisciplinary collaboration and consists of nurses, caregivers, psychologists, specialist doctors, and psychiatry residents. The geriatric psychiatric outpatient assignment is broad, and the tasks are varied: the target group consists of patients who have developed a need for psychiatric care at a specialist level after turning 70, and we treat patients with anxiety and depression disorders, psychosis, substance abuse, neuropsychiatric disabilities, and personality-related difficulties.

The psychologist's tasks are varied and include qualified psychotherapeutic treatment with CBT and PDT, initial assessments, acute follow-up after inpatient care, collaboration with care neighbors, and administration regarding certain parts of team work. Screening and diagnostic investigation work in collaboration with doctors also occurs. Working as a psychologist in the field of geriatric psychiatry allows for both creativity and sensitivity, especially in cases where traditional psychological treatment methods need to be adapted to meet the needs of the patient group and create conditions for constructive psychotherapeutic conversations. This may include considering a life cycle perspective, a particular consideration for the individual's existential health, or working with the psychological consequences of somatic comorbidity and aging.

Most of the team's visits take place at the clinic, but home visits are also included in the assignment. Collaboration in the care chain involves cooperation with inpatient care and mobile teams. There is also a research unit within the care chain. You plan a large part of your working hours yourself and make your own decisions within your area of expertise. At the same time, the interdisciplinary treatment team is the hub of the work, where we coordinate efforts and make overarching decisions about patient care.

The position is a temporary role until 2027-02-28 (with the possibility of extension).

About you

You are a licensed psychologist seeking a place where you can contribute to the development of the operation and ensure good care for the patient group among experienced colleagues.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. As a person, it is important that you have a genuine interest in human interactions and that you are goal-oriented in your work. We also appreciate good organizational skills, an ability to see your work in relation to a larger whole, and reasonable computer proficiency. If you have a research interest, we see that as a positive.
