About the operation

The Pharmacy Department is now seeking a department pharmacist for a position within psychiatry at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU).

The Pharmacy Department is the unit belonging to the Pharmaceutical Services at SU where pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in various healthcare operations. The Pharmaceutical Services also includes Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Service, Inpatient Dosage, and Extemporaneous Manufacturing. The operation has both internal SU and regional assignments.

As a newcomer to the Pharmacy Department, you will be introduced by experienced colleagues to learn different aspects of the work and the healthcare operation you will be placed in. The Pharmacy Department continuously works to offer professional development based on the unit's needs and the employees' personal goals.

Generally, working in the Pharmacy Department may involve weekend work and also working in other departments or clinics within Sahlgrenska University Hospital where the Pharmacy Department is located.

Job responsibilities

The main job responsibilities include performing practical tasks such as preparing medications, both oral and parenteral, ordering and managing medication rooms, and acting as knowledge support for nurses and doctors. For certain assignments, handing over medications directly to patients may be included in the job responsibilities. Conducting quality work for safe medication management is an ongoing responsibility for the Pharmacy Department.

As a department pharmacist, you will support other healthcare staff in quality work at the care unit, including:

• Preparing oral and parenteral medication doses.
• Ordering medications and managing medication rooms.
• Introducing new nurses to medication management and preparation.
• Providing expertise in questions regarding medications and medication management.
• Quality work for safe medication management.

Job responsibilities are planned, prioritized, and distributed in close collaboration with other department pharmacists and healthcare professionals within the operation where you are placed.

About you

We are looking for someone who is a licensed pharmacy technician or pharmacist with at least two years of professional experience. It is an advantage if you have an interest in psychiatry.

As a person, it is important that you are flexible and have a good ability to prioritize and plan your work based on the needs of the healthcare operation. You need to be able to collaborate easily, create new contacts, and build good relationships, both within and outside your own profession. You should be able to work independently and take your own initiatives, prioritize quality, and at the same time be solution-oriented and responsive to the needs and conditions of the care unit. You have good knowledge of Swedish and a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
