Do you want to work at the center of economic policy in Sweden? Are you an economist at the beginning of your career and ready to take the next step? Then we can offer you an exciting opportunity at the Ministry of Finance's Forecasting Unit, in the heart of Swedish administration.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
The International and Economic Department is responsible for international economic issues and for analyzing both Swedish and international economies. The department makes forecasts about the economic development in Sweden and the world, as well as assessments of the impact on the Swedish economy of the government's proposals within economic policy. The department participates in economic-political cooperation within the EU, OECD, the Nordic countries, and international financial institutions, and prepares positions for international negotiations. Additionally, the department is responsible for the governance of several agencies. The department consists of four units, with the forecasting unit being one of them.
As an economist in the forecasting unit, you will monitor and analyze the Swedish and international economic cycles and make forecasts for selected parts of the economy. In addition, the work involves outcome management, maintenance, and development of both methods and models for your own forecasting areas. You will also prepare various materials for the political leadership and participate in various international collaborations and discussions with other Swedish forecasters and institutions. Your work will be reported in the form of presentations, memos, and texts in the spring and budget propositions. Some coordinating tasks at the departmental level may also occur in your duties.
