About the Workplace

Welcome to the small preschool, located in a two-story building at Eriksfältsgatan 72.

Here, 10 dedicated educators work together with approximately 50-55 children. The teacher-to-child ratio is high. Our work is based on a philosophy where values and human perspectives are central. We strive to create environments that give every child the best opportunity to develop and learn – for lifelong learning. Our environments, both indoors and outdoors, should function as an additional educator, and we work based on environmental assurance.

We have three cargo bikes that are used frequently as they are a great asset in our work, “My Malmö”. Mathematics through language and a strong commitment to collaboration with guardians are significant aspects of our work at Stackens Preschool.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator, you work to create a safe, fun, and educational preschool. Together with the rest of the team, you shape the educational activities. In your role as an educator, you have the opportunity to use your own subject expertise to develop the activities to stimulate children's development and learning. All educators in Malmö city have scheduled time (3 hours/week) for reflection, documentation, and learning with colleagues.

As mentioned, Stackens Preschool is a small preschool. We are a team, regardless of titles and professions, working together for the children. The children's time at preschool is a significant part of their childhood, and we do our utmost, together, to make that time good for the children in their lifelong learning.

In Malmö city's preschools, we actively work for safe preschools. A safe and secure preschool is a collective term in this work. If you are not familiar with it, you will become well acquainted with this work at Stackens Preschool – a safe place for children.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a relevant university education of at least 120 credits. Some of these credits should have a pedagogical focus.

We would like you to contribute with engagement, creativity, and a drive to develop the activities. You meet every child with respect and attentiveness. Of course, you have a professional approach and work for good relationships with guardians and colleagues. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

We are looking for an educator with solid experience working in preschool and who has a strong ability to work in a structured and flexible manner. We would prefer that you:

• Have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
• Can actively work with language development together with the children and create linguistically rich learning environments in everyday life.
• Have the ability to see the entire preschool's needs and can support where it is needed most, regardless of department or group.
• It is advantageous if you have the guitar (or another instrument) as your best friend.

Are you a person who is unpretentious, curious about others; children, guardians, colleagues, other professions, etc.? Do you have the ability to see the trees, even the stack, despite standing in front of a large forest – then we hope you will apply for the position with us.

However, it is a prerequisite that you also have the competence to work with the preschool's systematic quality work, that you have knowledge of working against discrimination and abusive treatment, and work against honor-related oppression and limitations.
