Your Workplace

The Laboratory Medicine area in Värmland encompasses four specialties: clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine. The mission of the area is to offer sampling, blood services, preparation and analysis of samples, and to produce quality-assured analysis results, diagnoses, and diagnostic support with high service quality.

Transfusion Medicine in Karlstad has about 35 employees and is physically divided into two locations, GeBlod at Karolinen and the Blood Center at the Central Hospital. To work at the Blood Center, a license as a biomedical analyst is required.

Your Responsibilities

At GeBlod, we receive blood, plasma, and platelet donors. Here, we also prepare blood and platelets for patients and produce plasma for pharmaceuticals. The work primarily takes place during the day, and the team consists of both nurses and biomedical analysts. Some employees rotate between GeBlod and the Blood Center at the Central Hospital.

Analyses performed at the Central Hospital in Karlstad include blood typing, antibody screening, and pre-testing of blood components for planned and emergency transfusions. Reservation and dispensing of blood components and tissues to patients are performed around the clock, as well as advanced blood group serological investigations. The position is a temporary employment until 2027-08-31.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who is a licensed biomedical analyst with courses in transfusion medicine or a licensed nurse. You must be fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, and have a genuine interest in contributing to a vital community service.

As a person, you are secure and stable in your work, with the ability to take responsibility and work independently. At the same time, you are flexible and can adapt when circumstances change. You find it easy to collaborate and contribute to a positive work environment through a good attitude towards both colleagues and patients.
