The Surgical Clinic at the Central Hospital in Karlstad offers a wide range of healthcare services, including inpatient departments, surgical outpatient clinics, urology clinics, a breast center, and an endoscopy unit.

Our endoscopy unit is one of the finest in Sweden, performing both scheduled and emergency examinations as well as advanced procedures in the gastrointestinal tract during the day.

The cheerful team consists of about twenty competent employees from various professional backgrounds who enjoy working together and supporting each other. A family-like yet professional atmosphere permeates the organization, and we often hear from both patients and medical trainees that they felt well treated and cared for with us.

We have a clear focus on development with an emphasis on quality and regularly conduct training in colonoscopy techniques for doctors and endoscopists from all over Sweden. A couple of years ago, we also had assistance from a specialist from Japan, where we had a targeted training initiative to perform ESD.

Your tasks

Your responsibilities include performing diagnostic endoscopic examinations and various procedures in the gastrointestinal tract. Administrative tasks such as assessing referrals, participating in polyp conferences, and assisting in consultation matters are also included.

We need to expand our medical team and are looking for a specialist physician who wants to work full-time in endoscopy. On-call duties may occur but can be discussed on an individual basis.

The position is a 6-month temporary contract with the possibility of permanent employment.

Your skills and competencies

We are looking for a specialist physician in surgery or gastroenterology with several years of experience in endoscopy. You need to communicate well in both Swedish and English.

We place great importance on personal qualities, where a desire to provide high-quality care with a strong patient focus is a requirement. It is essential that you work well in a team and can make independent decisions. A solution-focused approach is also highly valued. Other valued traits include openness, drive, and a positive attitude, and we would like you to have an interest in organizational development.
