Teaching Assistants Wanted at Carlshöjdsskolan

Carlshöjdsskolan is located in a quiet area, close to forests and green spaces.

All students receive education in outdoor life. The school is a multicultural F–6 primary school and a special needs school. Within the special needs school, our students will study subjects and/or subject areas. Approximately 350 students attend here, and the staff is divided into five working teams. Our well-educated and dedicated teachers work to ensure that all students feel comfortable at school and succeed in their studies.

We are now looking for more teaching assistants for our special needs school!

Employment Information

• One position as a fixed-term employment, full-time.
• Two positions as fixed-term employment, part-time 50%.
• Extra work as needed, intermittent employment.

All positions are available as soon as possible by agreement.

Your Responsibilities

You will work as a resource for the special needs school alongside other resources and educators. As a resource in the special needs school, you will be present in the classroom to support the student in their education, develop their language, experience engagement, and develop autonomy (self-determination). You help the student to have the conditions to participate in collective learning, in various teaching situations, in peer relationships, as well as in everyday activities and in society.

You will work closely with your team and other educators at the school. Responsibilities may include helping students with the support they need in all learning situations in classrooms and other facilities. It also includes being a helping hand in dining situations and restroom situations. The role also includes accompanying and providing support in swimming lessons.

About You

You are a secure adult and a good role model. You also have the ability to connect with the students. You see each individual and create a safe environment in the school and collaborate with others to achieve set goals. As a person, you are flexible, clear, and structured. You enjoy working with children in need of special support as you are a very important part of their school day.

You have good collaboration skills, are attentive, and have an easy time communicating and collaborating with students and other important professional groups for the target group. You have a good ability to cooperate and maintain a professional demeanor towards the children, relatives, and other actors around the students. You are engaged and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals, as well as work on continuous improvements. We place great importance on your personal suitability.

Requirements

• Approved high school education, preferably with a focus on care or children
• Valid extract from the criminal record
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing
• Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities

Meritorious

• Educated childcare worker/teaching assistant or other pedagogical education
• Knowledge of NPF diagnoses
• Knowledge of TAKK, AKK, and accessible learning environments
• Knowledge of low-arousal approaches
