Department of Culture and Media Studies

The Department of Culture and Media Studies is part of Umeå University's Faculty of Humanities and has around 70 employees. Job Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant, you will primarily work with technical equipment related to photography and video and assist students in completing tasks involving, for example, editing moving images and sound. We exclusively use Adobe programs. Furthermore, you will also be responsible for creating favorable conditions during seminars, welcoming and guiding guest lecturers, and conducting evaluations of courses.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a degree program at the undergraduate or advanced level according to Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Act. You must be able to present proof of admission to such a program at the time the employment decision is made. The holder of the position should be a student throughout the entire employment period.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with previous study experience in the relevant subject area. You have a good ability to communicate and express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. You are service-oriented, responsible, and independent in your work. You possess good collaboration and planning skills.

Significant weight will be given to previous academic results and prior work experience. Personal suitability will also be considered.

Additional Information

The position is 20% of full-time, approximately 8 hours per week, starting on 2026-02-01 or by agreement, until 2026-06-07. The position is located in Umeå, and the workplace will be provided at the department.
