The Language Center in Botkyrka Municipality is responsible for mother tongue instruction and study guidance in municipal primary and secondary schools as well as independent schools.

The Language Center is also responsible for the reception and school placement of newly arrived students. We have a mission to preserve and promote multilingualism. We strive to be at the forefront with an intercultural approach so that our students develop into brave, energetic, responsible, and open citizens.

The Position and Responsibilities

As a mother tongue teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and developing instruction based on each student's conditions. You will also evaluate and develop the pedagogical work of the organization. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with engaged colleagues.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Conducting mother tongue instruction and study guidance.
• Assigning grades and assessments.
• Maintaining contact with students, parents, other teachers, and schools.

You will conduct instruction at various schools in the municipality and, as support for the pedagogical work, you have access to technical tools.

You Who Are Applying to Us

We are looking for someone who has a Swedish mother tongue teacher's license with the authority to teach mother tongue or a qualification validated by the Swedish Higher Education Authority. We expect you to have good knowledge of Swedish and the Swedish school system.

You can conduct instruction independently and based on governing documents, and it is natural for you to work with ICT and you are interested in the digital development and the opportunities this provides in teaching.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Swedish mother tongue teacher's license in the mother tongue Punjabi/Hindi.
• Teacher's license in other subjects.
• Experience as a mother tongue teacher and with study guidance.
• Experience as a teacher.

You need to be very structured as you will plan and carry out your teaching independently. Building relationships is important as you will have a lot of contact with all schools, parents, and students. You will work together with schools and teachers in study guidance, and collaboration is key. There will always be situations in the school world that you cannot always control, and you must solve problems on the spot, often without help from others.
