At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for part-time detention supervisors for the detention center in Gävle.

At a detention unit, individuals who have received an expulsion or deportation decision and need to be available for enforcement are placed. A person can also be detained if their right to stay in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit, and operations are conducted around the clock. The work is based on applicable legislation where legal security, dignity, and safety are important.

What does a detention supervisor do?
The role includes work with care, monitoring, searches, and security. You conduct conversations during, for example, admissions and discharges, as well as to inform about decisions. You pay attention to and address any special needs of the detainees and organize activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure that there is a calm, safe, and secure environment in the detention center through the execution of security checks and searches. Participation in transports, responsibility for food handling, and some administration are also part of the job. The work can be physically demanding at times.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and has good collaboration skills, is attentive, and resolves conflicts constructively. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and the professional.

As the operations are mobile, you need to be secure and stable even in stressful or pressured situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on the right things. You thrive on variation and can easily adapt and change your perspective and approach when circumstances change.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a strong sense of security and confidentiality.

You who are applying have

• High school education or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
• Experience in work requiring good service and professional interaction
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Good knowledge of English

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience working with people in vulnerable situations
• Experience in social work, such as work with care, mental health, addiction, or similar
• Driving license B
