Job Responsibilities
The authority is the guide into welfare.
Here, about 300 employees work to meet people in need of support in their daily lives. We investigate, guide, and make decisions based on a health-promoting and preventive approach. Together, we work to ensure that those in need receive support, care, and motivation to live an independent life.
As the head of the department, you are responsible for ensuring that we provide the greatest possible benefit to those we serve. You lead a management team with three operational managers, report to the administrative director, and are part of the management group of the administration. The department's work is based on the new Social Services Act (SoL), and your assignment is based on the requirements placed on the organization and how it collaborates with other operations within the administration, the city, as well as with external actors and providers. Quality work and the department's competence supply are important parts of the assignment. In this role, you are also the focus leader for the area of Active and Healthy Aging in the administration's Ten-Year Plan.
We want to create opportunities for Gothenburg residents to live an independent and good life, well into old age, even when health declines. To succeed with our mission in the coming years, we are developing our working methods and our ability to think innovatively. As one of the largest employers in our field, we have good conditions to succeed. We are looking for someone who wants to continue driving the development within the authority department forward!
Qualifications
Requirements
- Higher education as a social worker, social care, or other education relevant to the position.
- Several years of experience in strategic leadership within municipal administration where you have been a manager of other managers.
- Knowledge of the authority's operational area, preferably within elderly care.
- Experience in change management in relation to societal changes affecting elderly care.
Desirable
- Experience working strategically with competence supply.
As a person, you are clear and have a good ability to express yourself, both verbally and in writing. We are looking for a leadership style characterized by presence and trust, which you contribute to by being unpretentious and transparent. You stand by decisions made and can convey uncomfortable messages when necessary. In this role, you have many points of contact, and it is important that you have the ability to create and maintain good and trusting relationships. We place great importance on your analytical ability; it is essential that you can identify the core of a problem and translate your insights into action.
As Sweden's largest municipal care and welfare provider and one of the most important health-promoting administrations in the city, we have a significant responsibility and high expectations placed upon us. Our size allows us to stand firm, but at the same time, we can keep our sights high and far. In the role of department head, you need to apply a holistic perspective where the operation is placed in a larger context and see how we can collaborate and cooperate with other actors to succeed in our common mission.
We need to develop and change our work to meet future demographic challenges. As department head, you need to create space for new ideas, motivate others, and handle criticism of change constructively. You are expected to stay updated in the field and have a strong interest and commitment to the administration's issues. Together, we create the world's best city for a long and dignified life.
We are planning interviews on the morning of 15/12 and the afternoons of 16/12, 17/12, and 18/12. After that, we will select candidates we want to send to a full-day Assessment Center on 13/1 and 15/1. Welcome with your application!
