Business Description

Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal middle school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a middle school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively to create good learning environments, collegial learning, and to develop sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school has leisure leaders working every day. There are also school nurses and school counselors on site. Additionally, there is a special educator, social educator, and study and career counselor. Two key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. The school is divided into four working teams led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily work with teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is also a preparatory class for newly arrived students at the school.

Job Responsibilities

The role involves substituting in grades 7-9. A substitute teacher's task is to step in and cover for absent staff at the school, such as teachers, teaching assistants, etc. You will often work from a prepared lesson plan, and the assignments are very varied.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education, childcare worker training, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. As a person, you are positive, create engagement, participation, and cater to each student's needs. You are attentive and build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. In your work with students, you are clear in your leadership towards them. We also believe that you are innovative and interested in school development, and we place great value on the ability to collaborate. Personal suitability is of great importance.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
