The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with addiction. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with addiction, across the country. With us at SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work, or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS youth home Nereby operates in Harestad and Bergsjön. We conduct differentiated and high-quality school, care, and treatment work. The operations include a variety of professions, such as teachers, treatment pedagogues, psychologists, nurses, among others. SiS youth home Nereby receives both school-age and non-school-age boys with psychosocial issues, as well as criminal behavior and addiction.
Job Description
Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge.
As a treatment pedagogue at Nereby, you play an important role in providing our youth with the safety, care, and treatment they need. The goal of our mission is to motivate our youth to new and less risky ways of living, and we work with qualified care and motivational efforts. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, engagement, and attitude.
Together with colleagues, you ensure that the routines in the department function and contribute to the daily life flowing with schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. As a treatment pedagogue, case management is also one of your tasks. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. You also help maintain safety according to our routines, and documentation is an important part of your work.
Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. New departments are being built at the institution, and the home is now changing its focus to also receive girls. Be part of shaping and expanding our new organization.
The working hours are according to a schedule of day, evening, and weekend shifts.
As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the role of a treatment provider in SiS operations.
Qualifications
You need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a positive view of people, a great empathetic ability, and an ease in establishing good relationships. You should have good communication skills and be able to remain calm even in stressful situations. You are good at collaborating with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues. Since Nereby is facing a growing organization, it is preferred that you have work experience with young girls, self-harming behavior, and other behavioral issues.
Requirements:
- Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or other education from a university that we assess as equivalent
