Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a special education teacher for grades 7-9 at Mellanhedsskolan 2.

As a special education teacher, you will work with assessments, guidance, and observation of both individual students and classroom situations. The special education teacher also participates in operational and methodological development and provides support to the management in working with students in need of special support. You will be part of our EHT team, which currently consists of two special education teachers, a counselor, a school nurse, and a school psychologist, shared with other schools.

Together, we create the best possible conditions for each student's best school.

Your role includes planning and conducting teaching with a focus on language development in grades 4-9.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed primary school teacher and has a special education degree. Previous experience working as a special education teacher is an advantage. You need to have a good understanding of the school's governing documents (with particular reference to Chapter 3 of the Education Act) and the ability to apply this in your daily work. It is important that you have good didactic and pedagogical skills, as well as knowledge of relevant digital tools and work based on evidence-based research. To fit as a special education teacher with us, it is important that you are flexible, solution-focused, communicative, results-oriented, and skilled at building relationships.

About the Workplace

Mellanhedsskolan currently has a program for students from preschool class to grade 8, as well as an adapted primary school for grades 1-9. Approximately 930 students attend the school. The school is gradually expanding to become a full-scale F-9 school by the 2024/2025 school year. In the fall of 2022, Mellanhedsskolan took over the premises that were previously Slottstadens school. We currently operate in two school units. Mellanheden 1 serves grades F-3 while Mellanheden 2 (formerly Slottsstadens school) serves grades 4-8. We are each other's good working environment, but as school management, we have a special responsibility and regularly follow up on both workload and teaching quality in individual employee dialogues.
