We are looking for new colleagues to our wonderful team
Are you looking for a varied and patient-centered job at a small and family-oriented clinic with many different services under one roof? Then you might be the one we are looking for.
Job Responsibilities
At the vascular surgery department, we care for severely ill patients of vascular surgical nature, both acute and elective, but they also have medical conditions. Therefore, you will gain a broad knowledge of both surgery and medicine. Our patients are often multi-ill with kidney failure, heart failure, diabetes, etc. We are often a good springboard for a future career in emergency care such as ICU, anesthesia, ambulance. We have a high level of monitoring and a lot of medical technical equipment. In vascular surgery, we operate on large blood vessels such as the aorta, carotid artery, and arteries in the legs. Patients are prepared with us before surgery and then return for postoperative care. Wound care is also a significant part of our work, which can involve necrotic, venous, and of course surgical wounds. Some patients also need compression bandaging, and we also use vacuum therapy for hard-to-heal wounds.
On the ENT side, it is common to deal with nosebleeds, thyroid surgeries, and patients who have airway obstructions for some reason and need a tracheostomy. This gives you broad competence as we regularly have these patients in the department.
Curious?
Please contact us if you would like to schedule an informal conversation, and we will tell you more. Or would you like to come and shadow us to get an insight into our work and see the facilities? Contact unit managers Sara or Marina, and we will arrange that.
About the Workplace
At our vascular surgery department, which is a separate clinic, you are welcomed to a workplace with a familiar and open working climate. The clinic has 14 beds. These are distributed among vascular surgical patients, eye patients, and ear-nose-throat patients. Our operations also include arterial and venous department-based outpatient care, department-based surgical operations, clinical research, and aortic screening.
How is teamwork structured?
At the vascular surgery department, we have close collaboration within the team. There is always a doctor available on the ward, and several doctors are often present during rounds. We value our close cooperation, and we have a very familiar atmosphere where all different professions' opinions are heard. Our managers work very closely with us in care. We have rounds both in the morning and afternoon, so we get a good overview of our patients in the team and ensure a safe and swift care process. Since rapid mobilization is a very important part after all vascular surgery, there is a physiotherapist attached to the department who participates in teamwork daily.
What development opportunities are there?
In addition to our care department, we also have an arterial clinic, a venous clinic, and a clinic-owned operating room. We do not have staff who are only employed in the outpatient clinic/operating room; instead, it is staff from the ward who, after a period of work, are trained in the outpatient clinic or operating room. This provides significant competence development and an even better insight into the flow of patients within specialized care. At the arterial clinic, nurses work together with biomedical analysts and doctors. Here, it involves everything from patients referred from primary care, urgent visits, and follow-ups of treated patients or patients we follow for some reason.
At the venous clinic, nursing assistants and doctors work. This clinic primarily focuses on hard-to-heal leg ulcers and compression bandaging. In our own operating room located within the ward, we perform day surgery for varicose veins. There, a nurse, a nursing assistant, and a doctor work one day a week and operate about 6 patients in a work shift.
