Part-time Substitute Teachers Wanted in Sala Municipality

Sala Municipality in eastern Västmanland has approximately 23,000 residents and is the largest in the county by area. The municipality has several smaller towns as well as Sala city with about 13,700 inhabitants. Sala has a significant historical importance, primarily due to Sala Silver Mine, securing its place on Sweden's map. The main industries are agriculture, tourism, and small industry. In Sala Municipality, there are 10 preschools, 12 primary schools (including 2 secondary schools), after-school care, and adapted primary school.

About the Position

We are now looking for part-time substitutes who can work in our school activities at short notice. The employment is on an hourly basis and is a so-called short-term substitute position.

As a substitute in the school, you will teach various subjects and meet students of different ages. The school unit determines the content and the duration of the work shift. A typical school day runs from about 08:00 to 15:00, but as a substitute, you may work from a few hours to a full day.

The assignment to substitute in preschool (ages 1-5) and after-school care (ages 6-12) means that you participate in the planned educational work and must therefore be active with the children. Keep in mind that the activities take place both indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather. Working hours can vary between 06:00 and 18:00 in preschool and after-school care.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment involves being a substitute when regular staff are sick or on leave. You will be part of the substitute resource for preschool, after-school care, and primary school F-9. As a part-time substitute with us, you may work as a childcare worker or teacher for children/students aged 6 to 16 years. The work as a substitute is varied and fun but also responsible as you may be solely responsible for parts/tasks during a work shift.

Qualifications

The role of a part-time substitute is designed for and suits those who want to try working as a childcare worker, leisure educator, and teacher. We are looking for someone who is a good role model, can work independently, and feels they can contribute to a safe environment and encourage children and students to learn. We have high demands regarding punctuality, flexibility, teamwork, and social skills. You should also be prepared to work at multiple locations. Some tasks may require special qualifications, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

3. For those we choose to proceed with after the phone interview, we will invite them to an interview/introduction. (You must bring and show a valid certificate from the criminal record.)
4. After the interview/introduction, we will decide whether to offer you a part-time substitute position.

Other Requirements

The employment is on an hourly basis and is a part-time position. You must be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written. A driver's license and access to a car are required.

To work in school activities, you must present an extract from the Police's criminal record. You can order the extract from the Police, either by mail, which takes about 2 weeks to receive, or order it as a digital letter.
