Your Responsibilities

You will cover for regular teachers' absences and conduct lessons. This means you will be responsible for an entire class and teach one or more subjects. Sometimes you may follow the regular teacher's lesson planning, while in other cases you will be responsible for planning the lessons and content yourself. You will have the support of other teachers working at the school. As a substitute teacher, you may also have duties such as supervising breaks both indoors and outdoors. As a substitute, you play an important role in creating a positive and developing learning environment for all students!

Your Qualifications

You recognize that all students have different learning conditions and adapt your teaching style based on the student and the group. You have the ability to engage students and inspire them to learn. You build trust, serve as a role model, and establish relationships with students and, in some cases, their guardians. You must be at least 18 years old and have a recognized Swedish upper secondary education or other validated education equivalent to Swedish upper secondary education. We are looking for someone with experience in educational work at the primary school level or higher, or with long-term leadership experience from associations or similar. Previous experience working as a teacher in schools is an advantage. It is also beneficial if you have completed or started training to become a primary school teacher or subject teacher.

You speak and write fluently in Swedish.

Practical Information

The Substitute Teacher Agency's mission is to recruit and provide hourly staff from 1 day up to 2 months and 29 days for Västerås city's school operations. Through us, you have the opportunity to be booked for both longer and shorter assignments, with a minimum booking of three hours. Everything depends on the needs of the operations and how much you show that you can work based on your availability. As a substitute with us, you have the opportunity to work in many different operations and be matched to assignments based on your area of expertise. We provide substitutes for all of Västerås city's school operations (preschool, primary school/adapted primary school, and secondary school).

In our work tool, Timepool, you register the days you can work. You will then be matched to assignments based on your area of expertise and can be booked at workplaces located both centrally in Västerås and in rural areas. Working hours may vary, and short-notice bookings may occur, so it is an advantage if you are based in Västerås.

In this recruitment, you must provide a criminal record extract, and you can conveniently order and receive it digitally for the fastest processing. We always check references, and during the interview, we will ask you to provide contact information for two references. If you have previously been employed by Västerås city, we will always check references from your supervisor at that workplace.

Before you can be employed, you need to present an approved extract from the police's criminal record.

During the interview, you need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit.
