Job Responsibilities

Mälardalen University is seeking an engaged and development-oriented lecturer in physiotherapy who wants to help educate the physiotherapists of the future with a focus on behavioral medicine.

As a university lecturer, your main responsibilities will be teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and educational mission, and as a university lecturer, you actively contribute to the university's development work. Your tasks will also include general administration and professional development, as well as participating in the daily operations of the subject and the academy.

Specific tasks in this position include teaching and examination in anatomy and physiology, as well as clinic-related teaching components in areas such as movement support and transfer education. Additional tasks include teaching and support for students and supervisors in courses that include practical training, as well as supervision of PM and thesis work in the field of physiotherapy with a focus on behavioral medicine.

As a university lecturer in physiotherapy, you will work independently and take your own initiatives while collaborating with other colleagues in the group and participating in the planning and development of courses in the physiotherapy program.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and holds a master's degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are employed but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training within two and a half years of employment. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

In addition to the eligibility requirements established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, the following requirements apply for this position:

• Degree in physiotherapy and Swedish license as a physiotherapist.
• Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish at the level required to perform regular tasks in teaching and administration.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria will include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability to perform the tasks well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following meritorious competencies for this position:

• Meritorious clinical competence in the area of movement support.
• Competence in behavioral medicine is desirable, as the physiotherapy program has a behavioral medicine focus.
• Experience in teaching within physiotherapy or a similar field.
• Experience working in practical training.
• Experience supervising students in thesis work.
• Meritorious experience and interest in working with digital solutions in practice or teaching.
