We have been granted funding from the General Heritage Fund for yet another exciting and important project!

About us:

here 4U started in 2002 and is a general non-profit association that works for increased safety in schools and in society at large. Together with children and young people, we want to make Västerås a city where respect and consideration are natural parts of everyday life. Our base is schools in Västerås, and the foundation is all the children and young people who want to engage for a better society. We have a conviction: encouragement, trust, and responsibility create self-esteem and empowerment. It’s all about Empowerment!

here 4U is carefully evaluated with evidence and has been awarded several times for successful and inspiring activities. Most recently, in September, here 4U was awarded VLT's Pers Prize.

In the autumn of 2005, the here 4U coordinators were tasked with spreading the operation to more schools in Västerås. The activity grew in the number of schools, and many wanted to be part of a good movement. In July 2018, the association here 4U signed an IOP agreement with Västerås City.

About the project Be a Voice – Not an Echo!

The purpose of this project is to creatively counteract and prevent anti-Semitism, racism, anti-Muslim racism, anti-black racism, and anti-Roma racism in elementary schools through an educational initiative with a new method. This will be done by visiting and teaching at several elementary schools in Västerås.

The goals are; increased knowledge, awareness, and engagement against and reduced occurrence of anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim racism, anti-black racism, and anti-Roma racism, and a general reduction of racism in the visited schools. During classroom visits, students will have the opportunity to identify safe adults in their vicinity. We also want to offer elementary schools an evidence-based method with accompanying material after the project is completed. The project is unique and innovative.

The target group is elementary school students in Västerås. The method is based on six lesson sessions plus an introductory meeting with staff and follow-up visits that we hold at selected schools.

We are now looking for an additional project employee. You have:

· Primarily a teaching license with a focus on the primary teacher program F-3. Alternatively, another educational background and several years of experience working in close contact with students in the classroom.

· You have the ability to work independently and are flexible.

· The work includes some independent studies, so we want you to have a desire to deepen your knowledge in subjects related to racism, anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, democracy, the role of bystanders, anti-Muslim racism, anti-black racism, anti-Roma racism, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and human rights.

· There is room in the position to take various courses and further education organized by, among others, the Segerstedt Institute and the Forum for Living History.

· As a person, you are secure, stable, and can quickly build good relationships. In your work, you will meet both students, parents, and teachers, which is why you have good collaboration skills and can create trust and build relationships.

The project employee is responsible for administrative tasks such as handling pre- and post-evaluations and other assessments. Booking school visits, developing educational materials, conducting educational initiatives at schools together with a colleague. Keeping in touch with volunteers to facilitate their participation in the lessons and providing training for them. Updating the organization’s social media together with other colleagues. Assisting with purchases.

We want you to express yourself well both verbally and in writing.

The position involves some evening and weekend work.

The work requires traveling to and from schools, so a driver's license and a car are desirable.

We apply a three-month probationary period, which then transitions to a fixed-term employment.

The association is affiliated with a collective agreement.

We look forward to your application; please email directly to [email protected]

If you have questions, feel free to call the operations manager Nicklas Wennersten; 073-722 14 44.

We will conduct ongoing interviews. We will handle incoming applications after the Christmas holiday on 250108.
