University Lecturer in Commercial Law

Job Responsibilities
As a university lecturer at MDU, your main responsibilities will be teaching. This includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Here, research and education are closely intertwined, and research forms the basis for our education. Collaboration is an integral part of the role, and you will actively contribute to the university's development work.
MDU intends to hire a lecturer in commercial law who wants to realize the university's vision and help meet today's and tomorrow's societal challenges.
The position involves teaching in commercial law, primarily legal foundational courses in our business administration programs. It also includes teaching law in other programs, both on-campus and online. Teaching will be conducted in courses with commercial law content such as general property law, tax law, insolvency law, and corporate law, as well as administrative law and labor law.
The position entails close collaboration with business administration subjects and programs, which requires a good understanding of business perspectives and the ability to integrate law into economics education.
Teaching will be conducted in Swedish and English. The subject group of commercial law is part of the Department of Marketing & Strategy and the research area of Industrial Economics and Organization (IEO).
Eligibility Requirements
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skills and has obtained a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence.
The scientific and pedagogical skills must be documented so that the quality of previous work can be assessed.
To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those lacking such training must complete it within two and a half years.
For this position, in addition to the general eligibility requirements in MDU's employment regulations, you must have:
- Doctor of Laws (or equivalent scientific competence).
- Documented pedagogical skills
- Teaching experience, including supervision, in the relevant subject areas for the position
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English and the ability to express yourself precisely in speech and writing

Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria will be the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability required to perform the tasks well.
In addition to the assessment criteria established in the employment regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following:
The assessment of pedagogical skills should be given as much care as scientific skills.
Experience in quality work within higher education and pedagogical initiatives, such as the development of pedagogical methods or new forms of teaching, as well as work with diversity and gender equality issues in teaching, is meritorious.
Particularly meritorious is documented experience of teaching within business administration programs and having previously worked in environments where law is integrated with economic subjects. It is also meritorious to have experience in research related to broader issues that combine business administration and law.
It is also meritorious to have participated in international collaborations and to demonstrate the implementation of research projects with external funding.
In a comprehensive assessment, personal abilities will also be considered. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations, and contribute to a good working environment.
