The Air School's Medical Examination Department is looking for an examination physician with a primary focus on clinical physiology

The Swedish Armed Forces Air Combat School (LSS) is seeking examination physicians for the Medical Examination Department (MedUA) at the Air School in Linköping.

MedUA's main task is to examine individuals applying for positions in the Swedish Armed Forces' flying crews and other personnel categories where special admission is required.

MedUA is geographically located in Malmslätt, Linköping. The department conducts a range of tests including audiometry, spirometry, exercise tests, echocardiograms, and more to ensure that applicants meet the requirements primarily set for flying personnel. In addition, MedUA assists the Air Force with ongoing examinations of the heart and lungs.

Work at the department requires flight physician competence, which the employer can assist with if the applicant does not already possess it. Furthermore, diving medicine training is advantageous. This can also be obtained internally within the Armed Forces.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, among other things:

• Planning, conducting, and interpreting physiological examinations of the heart and lungs (spirometry, exercise tests, echocardiograms)
• Coordinating and performing medical examinations at the department
• In consultation with other flight physicians, assessing the fitness of the examined individuals against specific occupational requirements
• Documenting examination results
• Managing and developing the medical examination operations
• Assisting the training physician in conducting education and medical supervision of flying personnel

Qualifications

• Swedish citizenship
• Valid Swedish medical license and proof of specialist training in a relevant area where clinical physiology is highly meritorious
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Driver's license, at least class B
• Fully healthy and meets the Armed Forces' physical basic requirements

Meritorious

• Specialist competence in clinical physiology.
• Other specialist competence in cardiology, ear, or eye.
• Previous work within the Armed Forces.
• Previous work in occupational health care or occupational medicine
• Flight physician training
• Good computer skills with a focus on journal systems and Office programs

Start Date and Other Information

Start Date: As soon as possible after agreement, aiming for spring 2025.
Employment Type: Permanent. The Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority.

Work Location: Linköping, temporary work assignments may occur at other locations.
