The Education Administration is responsible for preschool, primary school, after-school care, high school, adult education, and child and student health. About 1100 employees work here to create a safe and developing school and childcare.

The municipal high school, Ystad Gymnasium, has nearly 1800 students and 300 staff and consists of two units, Park and Österport. The units consist of different areas and together we offer most national high school programs, introductory programs, and a large number of adapted high school programs. The school's vision is that all students should reach their full potential, and we stand for high quality and participation where each individual, in an inclusive culture, develops knowledge, skills, and democratic values.

Ystad Gymnasium Area 2 consists of the Sales and Service Program, Natural Science Program, and Technology Program. As one of our employees will go on parental leave in the spring of 2025, we are looking for a substitute teacher in English and Social Studies primarily until June 2025, but there may be a possibility for extension during the academic year 2025/2026. The position is based in the Sales and Service Program, but teaching will also occur in other programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The position currently includes teaching English 5 and 6 as well as Social Studies 1a1 and 1b.

Your responsibilities include communicating goals and development with students and staff, as well as documenting, following up, and evaluating your work. The position also includes mentoring a group of students together with a colleague, and you will be part of a team whose mission is to collaborate around the student groups in the program. There are also collaborations within the framework of teaching between different subjects, which we certainly expect you to continue to be active in. Furthermore, there is active work with field assignments, study visits, and other social activities together with our students.

At the school, we put the student's learning at the center, and we actively work to develop teaching within the framework of our systematic quality work. We have high expectations for both students and staff and believe in their ability to develop. The teaching is characterized by diversity, participation, and influence, as well as a critical approach, where formative assessment and digital work are important tools for learning. The staff learn together and engage in active collegial learning. Currently, we primarily focus on the subject grading reform Gy25 and the digital national tests that will be conducted for the first time in the spring of 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is qualified to teach English and Social Studies at the high school level, and a teaching license is of course an advantage. We also place great importance on your personal ability to motivate and engage students towards good results through clear leadership. We also see that you have the following qualifications:

• You are used to working both independently and in collaboration with others.
• You find it easy to build relationships and have a professional approach.
• You strive to create a positive learning environment to drive the work with students forward together with the school's staff.
• You express yourself easily in both speech and writing.
• You are accustomed to working with digital tools.
