Our Operations

In the neurology department, we provide highly specialized care for patients with diseases and injuries in the nervous system. We work with investigation and diagnosis as well as medical and surgical treatment of both acute conditions and chronic diseases in the nervous system.

From March 1, 2022, eye diseases are also included as a section in the neurology department. The section conducts diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of both acute and chronic, both congenital and acquired, eye diseases and injuries.

We offer care to patients from seven regions in central Sweden and provide national highly specialized care in certain areas to patients from all over Sweden. The complex mission creates good conditions for our employees and the operation to develop. Our work always starts from the patient's needs with a systematic approach. In addition to the clinical work in the department, there is a high level of research, education, and development in close collaboration with Uppsala University. Our vision is to be nationally and internationally leading in care, research, and education in the field of neurology and ophthalmology.

Your Mission

Together with the head of operations, you are responsible for the operations at the eye section in the neurology department. The mission includes responsibility for production, personnel, quality, work environment, and finances. You drive the development within the eye section in line with the overall goals of the operation. You have overall medical management responsibility for the operations at the eye section. You have personnel responsibility for doctors employed in the eye section. You report directly to the head of operations and are part of the department's management team. You are expected to work clinically alongside your role as section chief. The extent of the managerial assignment in relation to clinical work is by agreement.

Your Qualifications

You are a specialist doctor in ophthalmology or a trained ophthalmic nurse with an interest in management and a desire to develop your leadership and the operation.

We are looking for a professional and dedicated leader who works with a clear and present leadership style. You have leadership qualities that create trust among employees, support and contribute to their and the operation's development. You are a good role model in the organization and have the ability to engage, create participation, and a positive climate.

To thrive in the role as a leader, it is important that you enjoy working independently while also having a strong sense of teamwork. You work to build good and lasting relationships and have good communication skills. Personal suitability will be highly valued.

We Offer

Full-time position including clinical work. Management and leadership training will be provided. Entry according to agreement.

From January 1, 2025, permanent employment is the standard for managers in Region Uppsala. Probationary employment may be applied. For internal applicants without previous managerial experience, a fixed-term appointment of 3 years will be applied.
