Our Operations

The Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Pain Center is characterized by well-functioning multidisciplinary teams, something we are very proud of. Our area of operations has a broad mission where it is meaningful, exciting, and developing to work. There are good opportunities to participate in development work and research, and we implement new knowledge in our care.

In the geriatric emergency care unit 30A, we provide medical emergency care with a rehabilitative approach for elderly patients with complex medical conditions and care needs. As an experienced nurse, you will use all your accumulated skills and experiences around the patient. Geriatric care is conducted based on a clear structure specifically adapted to the elderly patient and their needs.

In geriatric care, teamwork is central; both the collaboration of the multiprofessional team and the patient's participation are important parts of the care process. Patients come to the geriatric emergency care unit via referrals from other departments within the hospital or through the emergency department. We also receive patients through direct admission from ambulances and via the home care team.

Your Mission

In geriatrics, we work with renewed working methods to increase the quality of care by making the patient involved in their care and improving the work environment by ensuring that the right person does the right things. This is an ongoing and continuously developing process. As an experienced nurse, there is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge in nursing and person-centered care, and you will also have the chance for additional tasks and to drive improvement work during allocated time.

With us, new areas of responsibility have been developed based on the needs of the patient group. We have theme weeks with a focus on nursing to share knowledge and experiences, etc. We are proud to have a staff and management group that places nursing highly and allows everyone to express their opinions and contribute to the development of the department through clear but open leadership. Together, we create an environment where one thrives and feels proud.

As an experienced nurse, you have the opportunity to apply for a specialist nursing education in elderly care and attend it during working hours. If you are already specialized in elderly care or another area that fits the geriatric specialty, you are also welcome to apply.

As a specialist nurse with us, you are part of our specialist nursing group led by our clinical adjunct. In the group, you participate in journal clubs and share experiences and improvement work. Here, you will work approximately 20% on cross-functional care quality issues and also have a cross-functional responsibility for some of the hospital's areas of responsibility, e.g., pain, falls, or pressure ulcers. You work closely with the department's responsible representatives.

Your Qualifications

You are an experienced nurse or specialist nurse in elderly care or have another relevant education for geriatric care. Broad knowledge in the area of nursing and person-centered care is an advantage.

Your Skills

As a person, you are flexible and have the ability to switch between outcome and task focus to provide the best and safest care. You have the ability to see and work with people's resources and emphasize patients' health understanding, participation, and shared responsibility. You have the ability to collaborate in a team and want to develop in a multiprofessional work group. You are solution-oriented and aim to provide your patients with the best care. Step to the forefront, welcome to us!

We Offer

We offer you a permanent full-time position with a start date by agreement. You can work 2-shift and 3-shift.

All new employees receive individually tailored introductions based on previous experiences. We use a clear introduction program with an introduction booklet, and later during your employment, you will complete mandatory e-learning courses. New employees will be offered frequent follow-ups at intervals of 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months as needed.

With us, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
