Our 1800 employees work with close care and health in Uppsala County. We offer a wide range of services within primary care. Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within habilitation, and we provide advice over the phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us, as we tailor our services according to the needs of the residents. Already, we offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.

We offer a full-time temporary position for one year, starting by agreement.

Now you have the chance to work as a speech therapist within the Hearing and Vision Services, placed in the Hearing Center's child and youth team. You will work with younger children with hearing impairment/deafness and their families together with audiologists, hearing pedagogues, special educators, speech therapists, sign language teachers, social workers, psychologists, engineers, and doctors. Together, you contribute to ensuring that children and young people with hearing impairment can live a good life.

Your mission

Your tasks include assessing children's linguistic and communicative abilities, as well as treatment/guidance. A large part of the speech therapy work involves working with preventive measures. The aim is to prevent young children with hearing impairment/deafness from developing linguistic and communicative difficulties. Together with the team, you offer early family-centered intervention, focusing on promoting early interaction, language immersion, a good communication environment, and the use of hearing technology.

Your qualifications

You who apply should be a licensed speech therapist. Experience working with children with hearing impairment is an advantage. It is also advantageous to have experience in parental guidance and working in habilitation teams. Having good knowledge of educational activities is a plus, as parts of the work involve guiding staff in preschool/school. You have good pedagogical skills and can easily establish contact with both patients, relatives, and colleagues. The work requires both good collaboration skills and the ability to work independently. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Our operations

The Hearing Center in Uppsala is a unit within the Hearing and Vision Services at Kronparksgården and is part of the Close Care and Health's area of operations for Disabilities. The child and youth team mainly receives referrals from doctors. The team meets children and young people aged 0 - 20 years with various degrees and types of hearing impairments. Our interventions include, for example, fitting hearing technology, providing advice and support to parents, counseling support, information to preschool/school, sign language teaching, assessment of linguistic skills, and language and communication guidance for parents.
