Neurosurgery Department

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. In addition to our role as a regional hospital, we provide highly specialized care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero of life. We believe that honesty lasts the longest, and it is no secret that we need to grow our team. As a colleague with us, you will experience much: hard challenges but also fantastic events, strong community, and support from colleagues and fellow humans. Welcome with your application and become a part of us.

Our Operations and Your Mission

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, work for development within your profession and the operations. The work is varied, as is the pace, and there is so much to learn. We perform surgeries around the clock, both urgent and elective. As a surgical nurse in our clinic, you will be part of a team where you primarily assist in skull and spine surgeries, as well as some peripheral nerve surgery and craniofacial surgery. During on-call hours, we also assist with minor ear-nose-throat surgeries and plastic surgeries.

We are one of seven neurosurgical clinics in Sweden, performing approximately 2000 surgeries per year, of which nearly half are urgent. Our operations provide care for patients both regionally and nationally, for people of all ages with various neurosurgical conditions. The department has six operating rooms equipped with high-tech medical technology. One of the rooms is our newly built intraoperative MR hybrid, where we collaborate with radiology and anesthesia to enable MRI examinations on patients during surgery. We also now use a robotic arm for biopsies and electrode placements. A large portion of the surgeries is performed microsurgically, allowing for real-time viewing of the procedure on large screens.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with specialized training in surgical care. Previous experience in surgical care is considered an advantage, but not a requirement. We place great importance on personal qualities.

Your Competence

We offer you a varied and stimulating job where your role is significant in collaboration with colleagues in the surgical team. You are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good working environment. You are also responsible and motivated in your work.

We Offer

With us, you will be offered a permanent position at 100% daytime. There is also the possibility of reduced working hours for those who work on-call, resulting in a weekly working time of 34.33 hours. The working hours are primarily during the day but can be adjusted according to preferences.

The onboarding will be tailored to your needs. A probationary period may be applied. Start date will be agreed upon.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).

Welcome with your application via the link below. Selection and appointment may occur continuously during the application period.

Region Uppsala values the qualities that gender balance and diversity bring to the operations. We therefore welcome applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.

Region Uppsala will place all permanently employed staff according to the needs of total defense. This means that for the individual employee, there are no obligations in peacetime, but it is purely a planning measure.

Background checks against suspicion and criminal records will be conducted for all individuals that the employer intends to hire or contract for patient-related work, as they may work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care for children and youth, or compulsory care for substance abusers, areas that are subject to optional record extracts. This applies to all who will work closely with patients, even if the tasks currently do not primarily involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's management. We therefore decline phone calls from recruitment companies and advertisement sellers.
