Our operations

In the neurology department, specialized and highly specialized care is provided for patients with diseases and injuries in the nervous system. We work with investigation and diagnosis as well as medical and surgical treatment of both acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions as well as chronic diseases in the nervous system. We offer care to patients from seven regions in central Sweden and provide national highly specialized care in certain areas to patients from all over Sweden. The complex mission creates good conditions for our employees and the operations to develop.

Within the department, more than 450 employees work across three wards, a day care ward, a neuro intermediate care ward, a neuro intensive care ward, an operating ward, and three outpatient clinics.

In parallel with the clinical operations, there is a high level of research, education, and development in close collaboration with Uppsala University. Our goal is to be nationally and internationally leading in care, research, and education in the neurology field.

Your mission

Participate in the general daily work, on-call work, and teaching assignments of the neurosurgical section. Be responsible for your further development as a neurosurgeon, leader, and team member towards the role of on-call and chief physician.

Your qualifications

We are now looking for a doctor with Swedish medical license who is a newly qualified specialist in neurosurgery. You should have a solid research interest and be a PhD or doctoral student in the clinical field.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. The daily work requires cooperation and flexibility. With clarity and communication skills combined with responsiveness, you work with patients and colleagues in all professional categories. You are committed and present in the moment. You take responsibility for leading, developing, improving, and representing the operation. You have well-developed national and international networks with researchers and clinicians. You are open and interested in being at the forefront of developments in the field.
