Personal Assistant Position Available

GIL coordinates personal assistance services since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. In most cases, the person in need of assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with specific knowledge about the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you will support a person with a disability to live the life they want. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in education and events. We believe that development and interaction with others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy working with us.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, weekend, and night, with 7.25 hours of on-call sleep duty at a 50% employment rate.

I am a woman living in Jönköping, requiring assistance almost around the clock, including care and assistance with daily activities. There are 2 small cheerful companion dogs in the home, so you need to be comfortable with and fond of dogs.

I have a summer cottage, so it is a plus if you are interested in plants. I participate in water gymnastics, so it is important that you can be in the water and participate.

I prefer that you are a good listener, empathetic, understanding, and able to follow instructions. It is important that we have good communication and mutual respect for each other.

I have the following requirements:

You must tolerate and like dogs as they are an important part of my life.
You have a driver's license and access to a car, as driving my adapted car is part of the job. I also have a summer cottage that cannot be reached by public transportation, so it is a requirement that you have your own car.
You are a non-smoker as I am sensitive to smoke.
You are female.
You speak and understand Swedish well, as I have a hearing impairment.
You understand the concept of self-determination, meaning the individual in need of assistance makes all decisions and plans their daily life, and you support the execution of the plans.
