NATO Headquarters Communications and Information Department J5
NATO's Communications and Information Systems Department (CIS) plans, delivers, and supports NATO's deployed communication and information systems (DCIS) to enable command and control for NATO's headquarters.
The NATO Communications & Information System Group (NCISG) is now seeking a Staff Officer for the J5 department, responsible for and leading analysis, evaluation, development, and improvement of NCISG's overall internal directives and concepts, as well as leading NCISG activities regarding development and improvement.
The assignment is expected to last either 2 or 3 years.
Main Responsibilities
- Defense and strategic operations planning within Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC), including planning coordination with external parties
- Coordinate CIMIC requirements
- Preparations for the mission's pre-operational phase, planning of Contingency Operation Plans (COP), and participation in CIMIC development
- Contribute to providing Allied Command Operations (ACO) with a long-term common operational picture
- Environmental monitoring aimed at identifying changes for the planning period in the medium to long term
- Plan, execute, and represent NATO CIS at relevant meetings, NATO committees, boards, and where appropriate at national meetings
- Develop, improve, and implement internal NATO procedures and policies
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- OF3. Possible with level undershooting, OF2 or level overshooting, OF4
- Completed staff program or Higher Officers Program, for OF2 equivalent academic education required as assessed by the employer
- Experience in tasks involving planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation of resource utilization
- Previous staff experience from higher military staffs or government organizations
- Broad military background as an officer
- High organizational, coordination, and communication skills
- Some knowledge and experience regarding the area where NATO forces will be deployed
- Experience in CIMIC operations
- English – SLP 3333 – (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)

The tasks as a staff officer are varied and require you to work independently and take your own initiatives. As a person, we see that you have good communication skills, are responsible, and unpretentious. You are a team player with high collaboration skills while also working in a structured manner and can lead a group if needed. In decision-making, you consider all parameters.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
