Part-time Choir Assistant for Uppsala Cathedral's Girls' and Boys' Choirs

The cathedral music needs you as a part-time choir assistant working with Uppsala Cathedral's Girls' Choir and Boys' Choir.

You are "in tune" and a support for the young choir members - from rehearsals to bus bookings.

The Uppsala Cathedral Boys' Choir was founded in 1920 by Archbishop Nathan Söderblom, inspired by boys' choirs in Germany and England. The choir is divided into the Little Boys' Choir and the Concert Choir. The Little Boys' Choir consists of boys in grades two and three. It is a smaller group that serves as a good preparation for the Concert Choir. The Concert Choir consists of boys from grade four up to about 22 years of age. This choir has more performances and goes on international tours every other year.

The Uppsala Cathedral Girls' Choir was formed in 1967 and is divided into the Little Girls' Choir, Anna, and Maria, with ages ranging from elementary school to high school. The Girls' Choir performs in the popular and sold-out Lucia concerts and also undertakes several tours, both independently and together with the Uppsala Cathedral Boys' Choir.

Job Description

Your tasks include being present at rehearsals and assisting with sheet music management as well as providing general support for young choir members, etc.

You are expected to handle simpler administration such as sheet music archiving, sheet music purchases, bus bookings, and snack purchases. Some advertising and ordering of posters, etc., will also occur.

Who are you?

As a choir assistant with us, you need to have a good rapport with children and youth as well as an interest in music.

You also have:

High school qualifications
Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing
Computer skills and administrative abilities

If you have previous experience in similar work and/or a background as a musician, that is a plus.

About the Position

The position is a permanent part-time employment at 50%. A probationary period may apply. Working hours are primarily Tuesday to Thursday, but some weekend work may occur. Start date is August 18 or by agreement.
