PhD Candidate in Biogeochemistry

We are now seeking a PhD candidate in biogeochemistry for the Limnology Program.
Job Duties
As a PhD candidate focusing on biogeochemistry, you will participate in the limnology program within a group focusing on biogeochemistry and the cycling of organic material. You will design and conduct laboratory experiments. You will interpret complex biological and chemical data using existing programming tools. Additionally, you will develop new programming tools as needed to analyze chemical and biological data. Beyond your research, there will be teaching and other administrative tasks within the limnology program. Teaching and other administrative duties may account for up to 20% of your working hours.
Qualifications
Eligible for doctoral education is someone who has
- completed a master's degree in biology, chemistry, and/or a relevant field in engineering, or
- completed at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level, including an independent project of at least 15 higher education credits, or
- acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way.

Candidates must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken and written English.
Meritorious
Knowledge in biology, chemistry, and/or engineering with experience in using programming tools is highly desirable for this position. Competencies that are desirable but not mandatory include courses in ecology, limnology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and/or organic chemistry. The candidate should already be familiar with programming tools and be willing to advance these skills to an advanced level.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is curious about learning about the natural environment and who can multitask and work with high-tech components in a project.
About the Position
The position is temporary, according to HF 5 chap. § 7. The extent is full-time. Start date is 2025-09-01 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
