Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences

The announced PhD position is linked to the research group Pharmaceutical Cell Biology.

Job Description

The research group where the PhD student will operate explores the molecular mechanisms that govern cell communication, both under normal physiological conditions and in disease states. Particular focus is on the interaction between nuclear and membrane-bound receptors and their crucial role in the growth and survival of cancer cells. The project involves detailed studies of signal transduction processes in tumor cells, where molecular biological techniques and mass spectrometric methods are used to map and understand these signaling systems.

In addition to independent research, teaching and administrative work at the department may be included.

Qualifications

A suitable background for the position is a degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, or an equivalent education (at least 240 ECTS credits), of which at least 60 ECTS credits at advanced level with relevant courses in cell biology. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, motivation, and a genuine interest in research within cell biology.

Applicants should have a good ability to express themselves both orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

Experience in cell culture, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics is advantageous but not required.

Selection of applicants will be made by the supervisor in consultation with the department's doctoral education group. The doctoral education committee within the field of medicine-pharmacy will admit the PhD student. Salary placement will be according to local guidelines at Uppsala University.

For employment, it is required that the holder is admitted or will be admitted to doctoral education. Regulations for doctoral students can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5 §§ 1-7 and the university's rules and guidelines http://regler.uu.se/ (http://regler.uu.se/). The PhD student should primarily devote themselves to their own doctoral education. Other duties at the department, such as teaching and administrative work, may be included within the framework of the doctoral position (max 20%). Doctoral education normally comprises 4 years of full-time studies, a maximum of 5 years if departmental duties are included.

About the Employment
