GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with in-depth knowledge of the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy and find it fun to work with us.

About the position:

Summer job
We are looking for a female assistant who can cover during the summer when regular assistants are on vacation (W. 28-W33). There is also the possibility of continued part-time work in the future.

The application should include a personal letter, CV, and names of references. Feel free to answer some of our initial questions via video response; this is an advantage but not a requirement.

Working hours:

The shifts are day/evening/night, and you generally work full days to meet needs. However, as a substitute, it may vary.

You will alternate between working independently or as a double assistant.

Some requirements:

• A driver's license and access to a personal car is a significant advantage (but not a requirement).
• You should be able to work both weekends and weekdays.
• You must be a woman.
• You should be able to speak, understand, and write well in Swedish as I do not have verbal speech and we have documentation obligations.

About me:

I am an 18-year-old girl living with my family just outside Borås, near Lockryd/Sandsjönäs (good bus connections are available). I attend school in Borås and have assistance around the clock except during school hours.

Personal assistance is not so much about caring for me - but more about enabling me to live my life the way I want. My assistants and I go out and do a lot – we take long walks, enjoy music, and socialize with new people. I also train a lot in the pool because I find it fun and beneficial.

I am very social and communicative but do not have speech, so I need help interpreting outwardly in meetings with people who do not know me. Additionally, I use a wheelchair and need assistance with transfers, dressing, feeding, and all personal hygiene.

- GIL has a collective agreement with Fremia-communal.

- GIL offers its employees 2,500 SEK/year in contributions for wellness and health.

- GIL applies individual salary setting. Salary according to agreement.
