Leisure Assistants for Stenhuset in Central Gothenburg
At the Social Administration Center, we work every day to improve the everyday lives of residents in central Gothenburg. Our assignments in the social field are many and range from authority exercise to promoting and preventive measures. We work locally but also have activities that target the entire city to meet the needs of our residents. We aim to create an equitable and effective social service with a focus on early interventions for a more equal city.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to help create a place where young people feel welcome, inspired, and heard? Then you should apply to us! We are now looking for 3 leisure assistants for Stenhuset, one for a permanent position and two for temporary positions of about one year with a chance of extension.
The Leisure West unit runs Stenhuset, an attractive place for young people aged 13-20. The operation aims to contribute to a rich and meaningful leisure time for the target group and currently offers many different creative directions, primarily in the cultural field such as music, studios, and events. The activities are conducted in both open and group forms where young people can gradually participate and realize their ideas about what they want to do in their leisure time.
The operation should, among other things:
- Build on voluntary participation and respond to young people's self-perceived needs, interests, ideas, and experiences.
- Contribute to young people's personal and social development through non-formal and informal learning.
- Strive to strengthen young people's self-determination, autonomy, and access to their rights.
- Have a holistic perspective on young people and meet them where they are, as capable individuals and primary resources in their own lives and for society as a whole.
- Promote critical thinking and creativity as well as human rights and democratic values.
A large part of the work with Stenhuset also involves outreach work in schools aimed at promoting the activities and building relationships with the target group. Additionally, various assignments such as School as Arena, Passalen, mentoring summer workers, and/or young leaders/ambassadors are included.
This position includes working evenings. Work on weekends, camp activities, and other events may occur throughout the year. During school breaks, we have extra activities and operations running.

QUALIFICATIONS
To apply for the position, you need to have a leisure leader education or other equivalent post-secondary education, preferably pedagogical, that the employer deems relevant to the assignment. We also see it as a requirement that you have documented experience working in an open activity, preferably specifically in an open youth center, and that you can demonstrate good results in coaching young people in various influence and/or participation processes.
We consider it an advantage if you have knowledge and experience in working systematically with quality development, as well as experience working with a norm-aware approach.
We also see it as beneficial if you have a good ability in conflict management and experience working with low-arousal methods.
The work requires that you have good experience in youth work and that you feel secure in the promoting work. You take initiative, start activities, and achieve results whether you work alone or together with others. You have a strong commitment and enthusiasm for your work.
You collaborate easily and work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You understand the common mission and work to make it as good as possible.
You are flexible and can change how you work when things change. You can quickly adjust your perspective and approach and see opportunities in changes.
You are communicative and convey information and ideas clearly both verbally and in writing. You ensure that your message gets through. You adapt your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation.
Finally, you also need to be calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You can balance the demands placed on you and can make well-founded decisions despite time pressure.
