The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, about 16,000 children attend one of our facilities.

Östergård School is a primary school with grades 4-9 and an associated after-school program. The school has about 650 students. The school is located in central Halmstad with easy access to facilities such as Halmstad Arena. At Östergård School, we work closely in teams, with great commitment to developing our students towards the goals.

Östergård School and its students and staff moved into new, beautiful premises in the autumn term of 2024. For several years, we have been working to challenge the structures of how the school is organized and how we can work differently to give our students the best possible conditions. JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a primary school teacher/responsible educator for the language track at Östergård School for grades 7-9.

As a responsible educator, you will be responsible for and follow a group of students with language impairment. The assignment also includes some teaching primarily in the subject of Swedish (in a co-teaching setup or with a small group of students). Working at Östergård School means that you will be involved in developing the school's pedagogical activities. The work consists of planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing teaching together with the team based on our governing documents and the goals of the operation. The pedagogical responsibility that the responsible educator has to ensure that students reach the goals often requires ingenuity, creativity, and flexibility. You have high expectations of the students and can motivate them to achieve good results in their schoolwork by clarifying the goals and knowledge requirements for them. The work requires collaboration with other colleagues at the school in a humble spirit.

In the role of responsible educator, a good ability to analyze the child's needs and the ability to use a well-adapted methodology for the student and the group is required. It is important to be open to meeting the school's needs for teaching in different student groups and stages.

As a responsible educator at Östergård School, you have a mentoring role. This includes close contact with the student, guardians, study counselors, subject teachers, and student health.

Additional tasks that you as a responsible educator have:

• Facilitate the inclusion of language track students in regular teaching through adaptations of the pedagogical situation and materials.
• Together with regular teachers, plan, implement, and evaluate teaching for language track students and develop teaching aimed at language development for all students.
• Follow and document the student's development.
• Actively participate in regular teachers' assessments of language track students' goal fulfillment.
• Be responsible for necessary mappings and investigations to meet the needs of language track students for support.
• Coordinate the student's entire school day.
• Task to spread knowledge and information to staff at the school (e.g., the work team, other teaching staff, student health, etc.) to ensure the quality of education for language track students and also to disseminate a pedagogical approach for language-developing teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

Teacher certification with qualifications to teach in the subjects of Swedish/Swedish as a second language. Qualification in additional subjects is an advantage.
