The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our facilities.

Östergård School is a primary school with grades 4-9 and an associated after-school program. The school has about 650 students. It is located in central Halmstad with easy access to facilities such as Halmstad Arena. At Östergård School, we work closely in teams, with a strong commitment to developing our students towards their goals.

Östergård School and its students and staff moved into new, beautiful premises in the autumn term of 2024. For several years, we have been working to challenge the structures of how the school is organized and how we can work differently to give our students the best possible conditions. We are proud of the work being done while continually striving to develop ourselves every day. As the number of students increases for the autumn term of 2025, we are now looking for someone who wants to be a part of our school!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a qualified teacher in Swedish and English for our special education groups at Östergård School's middle school.

As a teacher, you will help develop the school's educational activities. The work consists of planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing teaching together with the team based on our governing documents and the goals of the organization. The pedagogical responsibility that teachers have for ensuring that students meet the goals often requires inventiveness, creativity, and flexibility. You have high expectations for the students and can motivate them by clarifying the goals and knowledge requirements so that they achieve good results in their schoolwork. It is important that you adapt your teaching and work in a language-developing way. The work requires collaboration with other colleagues, primarily within the team, but also with others in the school in a non-prestigious manner. In the role of a teacher, there is a need for a good ability to analyze the child's needs and to use a methodology that is well adapted to the student and the group. In the special education group, you will also work to develop and strengthen the students' social skills.

The team works closely together to develop the student both academically and socially. This means that you will work closely with both the team and student health as well as other mentors at the school. You will be teaching students in grades 7-9.

We currently have several staff members working in the SUND groups and are well-staffed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Teacher certification with authorization to teach in primary school in Swedish and English for grades 7-9. Authorization in additional subjects is an advantage.

You should have experience working with students in need of special support. You have good knowledge of how to meet and work with students who have various NPF diagnoses as well as students with language disorders. You also have a good ability to motivate students in various ways.
