JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision. The probation service is responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an electronic tag, and community service. The probation service also enforces youth supervision and conducts personal investigations and provides opinions to the court where we propose appropriate sanctions.

Work within the probation service largely consists of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for enforcement. As a probation officer, you will actively participate in influence work directed at clients, among other things through structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison.

The work of a probation officer consists of support and control. If the client does not comply with their enforcement, the probation officer must be able to manage non-compliance in accordance with regulations. You need to be able to handle the complexity of working with both support and control functions, which can be a challenge. We are now looking for probation officers for the Probation Service in Linköping.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you demonstrate good judgment and integrity. As a probation officer, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree (at least at the bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, law, social work, criminology, or social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• A valid driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you have:

• Well-documented work experience in the prison service, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• Current experience working in probation.
• Experience from several operational areas within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Experience in handling intensive supervision, community service, and prison cases such as special release measures, decisions on supervision, and special regulations.
• Experience in supervision processing and enforcement planning.
• Experience with Krimstics.
• Relevant language skills.
