Your Responsibilities

At Barnhemsgatan, we provide short-term care for individuals with mental disabilities, aiming to provide support/rehabilitation/treatment and care planning in a safe environment outside of hospitals and inpatient care before the individual moves back to their regular accommodation or to housing with special services. With us, you will work with a diverse target group where no day is the same!

As a housing support worker with us, you will provide medical, social, and psychological interventions to promote strength and health in the individual. In addition, the work includes various types of assessments to investigate the needs of the clients. This may involve different forms of ADL assessments. We closely collaborate with, for example, psychiatry to provide clients with the best possible conditions when they later move to another accommodation.

In daily work, we use low-arousal approaches to reduce stress and problem-causing behavior, as well as a motivating and goal-oriented approach to facilitate the resident's own strength to move forward. Keeping records and working systematically with care plans and implementation plans is also an important part of the job.

Your Workplace

The Adult Department within the Social Administration is responsible for authority exercise and support for individuals over 21 years old within individual and family care, social psychiatry, and according to LSS (the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons). Within the Adult Department, we have employees with broad experience and competence, distributed across several operations. In social psychiatry, we work with individuals with mental and/or neuropsychiatric disabilities as well as substance abuse issues. We offer supported housing, housing support, and personal representatives, and we are also responsible for psychiatric home care.

Our accommodations are spread throughout Linköping and vary between stairwell housing, short-term housing, and housing with attached independent apartments in their respective areas. Working hours are normally scheduled, including day, evening, weekend, and sleeping on-call shifts. The operations that have awake night shifts receive support from a night patrol if needed.

Barnhemsgatan is one of our short-term accommodations intended for individuals aged 18 and older whose psychiatric care needs for a limited period of up to 6 months are not deemed to require psychiatric inpatient care, but where the care needs cannot be met in the individual's home or in outpatient care. The goal is to be able to return to ordinary housing or housing with special services after completing a rehabilitation period. At Barnhemsgatan, working hours are scheduled for day, evening, weekend, and sleeping on-call shifts, and we work closely with other operations within social psychiatry.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for you who are a nursing assistant or caregiver, preferably with a focus on psychiatry or have equivalent education that the employer assesses as comparable. You have experience working in care, support, and assistance, as well as experience with the target group in psychiatry and/or neuropsychiatry. It is advantageous if you have experience with substance abuse issues, self-harming behavior, and/or social work. We work based on ESL (An Independent Life), IBIC (the individual's needs in focus), motivational interviewing (MI), low-arousal approaches, pedagogical approaches, and positive behavioral support, and it is advantageous if you have knowledge of these. Good Swedish in both spoken and written form is required, as well as computer skills since we use language as a working tool in contact with clients and in documentation and record-keeping. We also consider it advantageous to have a B driver's license for manual transmission, as a car may be used in the position.
