Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is in both Swedish and English, and the hallways are bilingual. The language of meetings and communication amongst the staff is English.
IES is one of Sweden's largest school groups at compulsory school level with 48 schools and around 32,000 students across the country. IES has grown steadily and maintained quality since 1993.
Special Education Teacher
Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) Lund is a school for grades 4-9 with approximately 700 students and 80 staff members. We are now looking for a dedicated and proactive special education teacher for grades 4-6 to join our Special Education team. You believe that every student can and has the opportunity to reach their full potential, and you are eager to assist teachers in creating conditions for differentiation and individual adaptations where needed. You are passionate about every student's right to learn and are interested in developing and engaging with the latest research on learning and contributing to its implementation.
The special education team consists of a total of 10 members spread across grades 4-9. The team as a whole has an overarching team leader, but the person we are looking for will be the team leader for the members in the middle school, 5 people. Therefore, we are looking for someone with leadership skills. You are attentive to your colleagues and are proactive.
IES Lund has an established working method for students in need of special support, where you are welcome to contribute your expertise for the continued development of working methods and resource allocation.
You share IES values and ethos and believe that a safe and secure school environment is the foundation for learning. As a person, you are independent but enjoy collaborating with others towards common goals. You are a true educator who can work individually with students but also thrive in coaching and motivating teams and colleagues. You are a qualified teacher with a special education qualification who speaks both English and Swedish fluently. You have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with cases and routines and can work independently as well as be part of a team. Do you feel this is you? We are looking for someone who is a qualified special education teacher or has equivalent education to work comprehensively in grades 4-6.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is comfortable using both English and Swedish in speech and writing
- Wants to work in a school where we challenge ourselves and each other to think forward and address problems in a solution-oriented manner.
- Is communicative, innovative, and confident in the special education role.
- Wants to develop in your role as a special education teacher and contribute to the school's continued development.
- Has in-depth knowledge or a strong interest in special education; experience is an asset.
- We also view positively if you have experience and interest in addressing students with neuropsychiatric diagnoses.
Your responsibilities include:
- Mapping and investigating students' needs for special support
- Establishing action plans for students in need of special support, based on the above investigation
- Managing contacts regarding students with external actors (BUP, habilitation, social services, etc.)
- Guiding teachers in special education
- Being the team leader for the part of the special education team that belongs to the middle school
- Working in a dynamic and multicultural environment with colleagues from all over the world.
- Participating in the student health work for the benefit of all students

The position is 100% with a start in August 2025. We apply a 6-month probationary period. Salary according to agreement, collective agreement exists.
