In the role of leisure assistant, you will coach and guide young visitors in their cultural interests. You will primarily work publicly by staffing the operations. You will also plan and implement relevant events and workshops for and with young people and young adults. Some administrative tasks will occur, such as managing bookings and making purchases for the operations.

The work involves collaboration with Malmö's youth and young adults, as well as colleagues or actors within and outside Malmö city. During the first two years, the work will be conducted in project form using investigative and inclusive methodologies. The goal is for visitors, focusing on Malmö's youth and young adults, to be involved in the design and operation of the activities.

As a leisure assistant in the new meeting place in Hyllie, you will be part of Cultural Events and Meeting Places, a department that has the privilege of working closely and often together with the residents of Malmö.

The work mainly involves evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree or equivalent post-secondary education in pedagogy, project management, event planning, cultural production, or another area deemed equivalent by the employer. It is advantageous if the educational focus is within art and/or culture.

You have experience with a coaching approach, working with youth and young adults in co-creative processes, and knowledge of creative education and networks. You also have experience initiating, planning, and driving development work within culture, as well as leading, planning, and executing events.

It is advantageous if you have experience working with artistic practice, fundraising (project financing), media/communication/technology, and/or cultural events targeting young people. Experience working with individuals with disabilities and experience in associations and business are also advantageous.

We seek someone with good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of any of Malmö's major languages.

As a person, we are looking for someone who is flexible, goal- and results-oriented, and independent but can easily work in a team. You are creative and have the ability to see the bigger picture and consider the broader perspective. You have good pedagogical insight and cultural awareness, as well as an interest in working with the youth target group.

About the Workplace

At the new meeting place in Hyllie, the Cultural Administration will open a new meeting place for everyone, with a focus on the target group aged 16-25, in collaboration with the Dawit Isaak Library and their freedom of expression center, as well as the Hyllie Library. WIP is a cultural meeting place that targets specific initiatives for 16-25-year-olds who want to develop their creativity and artistic practice. Here, the target group will receive support and assistance with everything from applications to artistic education and scholarships, expand their networks, create events and arrangements, receive help with seeking project funding, and advice specifically for working cultural actors and other initiatives identified by the target group over time.

At Work In Progress, all young people in Malmö aged 16 to 25 can hang out, meet, develop, shape, and take part in culture. A place where something creative is always happening, but where there is also room for a carefree existence in a beautiful and creative environment. WIP will open in Hyllie in the summer/autumn of 2025.

The joint work of the three departments to create this new operation will be based on a testing and trial approach, both regarding content and offerings, but also regarding how the operations can best be organized internally to meet the needs placed upon them. The organization of the operation will be evaluated together with employees after two years of operation to then set the organization and organizational affiliation for the future.

Job Information

Employment Type: Permanent
Scope: 75-100%
Number of Positions: 5, including 3 full-time positions and 2 part-time positions at 75%
Start Date: May 1st or by agreement

The first round of interviews will be held on April 9th or 10th.
The second round of interviews, involving youth, will take place on April 15th and 16th.

Due to the fact that the Convention on the Rights of the Child became Swedish law in 2020, the Cultural Events and Meeting Places have chosen to include the young people who visit the operations in this recruitment process, as part of the work on children's rights. A number of young people who have been involved in the development of the operation will represent the participants during the interviews you may be called to.
