Social Services Inspector at the Social Administration in Stockholm

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Social Administration in Stockholm City has an overarching and coordinating role for social services' individual and family care and the area of disabilities. Here, good conditions are created to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures is offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often occurs in close collaboration with other authorities, civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city's serving and tobacco permits and conducts supervision.

Do you want to contribute to the development and quality of social services? Now you have the chance to try the role of social services inspector for a one-year temporary position! This is an opportunity for you who want to deepen your knowledge, gain valuable experience, and contribute to a better social service in the city.

If this sounds exciting, then this could be a role for you!

Your Role

Together with a colleague, you will be responsible for quality reviews of social services' operations within individual and family care. You will be part of a working group with two disability inspectors who review services for people with disabilities, including social psychiatry. The reviews aim to ensure good and equal quality in the city's social services and complement other quality follow-ups.

The work is based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's definition of good quality, focusing on user perspectives and legal security, as well as legislation and the city's guidelines. The assignment involves planning and conducting reviews, providing feedback on results to operations, and disseminating lessons for development. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the district committees and other actors inside and outside Stockholm City.

With us, you will work alongside competent and development-oriented colleagues in a department focused on the development of the entire Stockholm City social services. With the new social services law coming into effect in 2025, a significant transformation is underway, focusing on more preventive and early interventions that can be provided without needs assessment. Social services will also work knowledge-based, continuously follow up and develop their operations. The transformation in the city is coordinated from our department, and your role will evolve in harmony with the ongoing development work.

Your main tasks include

  • reviewing steering and routine documents
  • deepening and monitoring the external environment within review areas
  • reviewing case management and follow-up of measures
  • conducting site visits and participating in operational meetings
  • conducting surveys and interviews with employees and managers
  • writing service statements, analyzing and compiling results
  • providing feedback on results and disseminating lessons, for example through conferences and professional development
  • participating in activities that promote development in social services
  • collaborating with colleagues and various actors inside and outside Stockholm City.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a degree in social work
  • several years of experience in government operations in social services, within individual and family care
  • extensive experience and good knowledge of social services' operational areas
  • very good knowledge of current legislation and working methods within the field of social services
  • good familiarity with working in a politically governed organization
  • experience in development work at an overarching and strategic level, in a leading role or with operational development
  • experience in gathering and analyzing information using various methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, and focus groups)
  • experience in writing reports after reviews and service statements
  • experience in conducting workshops and conferences.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • worked in Stockholm City
  • education at the master's level
  • experience in quality follow-up.

Your Personality and Working Style

We place great importance on personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position. For this role, we see that you have the following competencies:

To thrive with us, we are looking for someone who is self-driven, professional, meticulous, development-oriented, and has good collaboration skills. Our department has a strong focus on development, which we hope you also share. You take responsibility for all parts of a process and have the ability and interest to independently and systematically drive your work forward. You have the ability to see details and be thorough in planning and execution. You need to be secure, stable, and have self-awareness, as well as the ability to adapt to different situations and contexts. You will closely collaborate with a colleague in the same role. However, the role also involves collaboration with many other people, so we are looking for someone who enjoys and finds it easy to collaborate. The work requires impartiality but also presupposes humility and the ability to create participation and contribute to shared learning together with colleagues in the city's social services.

Other

To strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role, you do not need to attach a personal letter. In the assessment of your application, we will only base it on your CV and a number of questions you will be asked to answer when applying for the position. We wish for you to respond concretely and briefly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV.
