Welcome to apply for a job with us!

We are looking for a PhD candidate in flexible X-ray detectors.

Your Responsibilities

Flexible X-ray detectors represent a future technology with applications in various scientific, medical, and technological fields. Our joint project, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, aims to realize flexible X-ray detectors by developing new organic semiconductors that can meet the critical requirements for flexibility, X-ray absorption capability, and charge transport. You will focus on the development of X-ray detectors using new materials, employing advanced characterizations. You will work alongside chemists, materials scientists, and component physicists to conduct your research, which will involve close and regular interaction with the other participating research groups at Linköping University (led by Professor Mats Fahlman), Chalmers University of Technology (led by Professor Eva Olsson), and Uppsala University (led by Professor Sascha Ott).

As a PhD candidate, you will dedicate yourself to your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental duties, up to 20% of full-time.

Your Qualifications

You have a master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field, or have completed courses totaling at least 240 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 ECTS credits are at the master's level in physics, chemistry, materials, or a related field, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.

Qualified candidates are expected to:

  • Independently conduct research activities
  • Work collaboratively and openly as part of a team
  • Serve as a source of information and advice to other group members on scientific protocols and experimental techniques
  • Initiate research-related tasks
  • Acquire new knowledge
  • Have prior experimental experience related to the job description above – particularly in physics and/or materials/device development.

Please include a statement of intent that addresses: 1. Why you want to pursue a PhD 2. Why you are interested in this position and 3. Why you believe you are qualified for this position.

Your Workplace

The group led by Professor Feng Gao focuses on optoelectronic devices produced from solution, primarily semiconductor perovskites and organic semiconductors. The group belongs to the Department of Electronic and Photonic Materials, where we develop photonic and electronic materials for energy conversion and storage.

About the Employment

Upon commencement of employment, you will be admitted to the doctoral program. Read more about the respective faculty's doctoral education here.

The position is limited to four years full-time. Initially, you will be employed for one year, and thereafter the employment will be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time, based on the achieved study plan. Extension of employment up to five years may occur based on the degree of teaching and departmental duties. In special circumstances, further extension may be granted.

Start date by agreement.
