Your Responsibilities

Your starting point as a leisure teacher is to work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and value-based work according to the curriculum. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

As a leisure teacher, you view the student's entire school day as important, and therefore you collaborate with both guardians and colleagues regarding the student. As part of this, the leisure center's and school's operations work together to achieve higher goal fulfillment and create the best conditions for each student. You start from the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching.

You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection during both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit the students' learning, as well as your own and the development of the organization, you take advantage of the experiences and knowledge of various professionals.

Ekängen Schools consists of two schools, Bärstad School with students in grades F-1 and Ekäng School with students in grades 2-6. We have a total of 5 leisure departments where we have age-homogeneous groups in all departments except for grades 4-6. Ekängen Schools are located about 6 km from the city center in a lovely environment. Roxen with its beach is within walking distance from the schools, and we have the forest right at our doorstep. Our schoolyards invite play and movement, we have a large activity park and a full-size artificial grass field. We also have nice and functional premises. There are good bus connections, and it takes about 15 minutes by bus from Linköping's travel center.

Who You Are

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with a teaching license with authorization in leisure education. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a diploma or completed education as a leisure teacher. Alternatively, you are in the final stages of your education as a leisure teacher. It is an advantage if you have authorization to teach in more subjects, based on the needs of the organization.

It is a requirement that you have experience as a teacher in a curriculum-based leisure center, either through internships or as an employee. It is advantageous if you have worked as a leisure teacher for at least one school year.

In your role as a leisure teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is so that you can organize and carry out the work according to the curriculum (Lgr22) to support the student's language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a leisure teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in shaping the teaching. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document it. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are part of your professional role.
